For over 20 years, Bobby Singh and Benjamin Walsh have developed many unique techniques to bridge the worlds of Indian and Western rhythmic approaches.
In this session, Bobby and Benjamin will explain and demonstrate how they collaborate and compose together.
If you have access needs, please call the Box Office on 02 9061 5344 to book tickets.
Bobby Singh studied in Mumbai under the guidance of tabla master, Aneesh Prahan, and is renowned throughout Australia and internationally for his work on projects that straddle the divide between tradition and modernity.
He has performed with Grammy Award winner, Pt Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, John Butler, and Slava Grigoryan, amongst many others, and won an ARIA Award for the cross-cultural album, Djan Djan, with Mamadou Diabate and Jeff Lang.
Initially known as one of Australia’s most well admired, well respected, and hardest working drummers, Benjamin Walsh has since cut his teeth racking up thousands of gigs across the globe and studying with some of the world's leading instrumentalists.
Performer, percussionist, composer, instrument maker, collaborator, curator, record label owner, and raconteur, Benjamin has also been instrumental in the creation, development, touring, recording, and establishment of groups such as The Bird, Circle of Rhythm, The Tom Tom Crew, Scotch & Soda, Sediment, Pablo Percusso, Taikoz, Groovelands, and The Crusty Suitcase Band, Dha.
Years of honing his skills has seen Benjamin’s artistic vision continually evolving, as he searches out new horizons and challenges from electronic forms to orchestral composition.
