COVID-19 Safety Measures
Updated 19 December 2022.
Please note that changes may be made to the below measures based on changing circumstances. If significant changes are made, impacting your event, you will be notified directly. Up to date safety information will also be provided prior to your visit.
We're delighted to welcome you to Seymour Centre.
The health and wellbeing of patrons and staff is our highest priority, and as a registered COVID-Safe business, we have a series of safety measures designed to make your visit both safe and enjoyable.
By purchasing tickets, you agree to follow our safety measures and any associated direction from Seymour staff. This is how your next trip to the Seymour will work:
First off, if you or a member of your group is COVID-19 positive or feeling unwell with COVID-19 symptoms, we ask that you strongly consider staying away, for the safety of all our patrons.
In the above case, you can contact the Box Office and let us know up to two hours prior to your event, and we’ll do our best to move you to an alternative date subject to availability.
Consider your transport options and ensure you arrive in time for your event.
If travelling by school bus, there are easy drop-off and pick-up points for buses on City Rd and Shepherd St (although please note there is no bus parking available onsite). Alternatively, the Seymour is a 10 minute walk from Redfern Station and a 20 minute walk from Central Station. Find out more about transport options here.
Upon arrival for your event, we highly recommend you and your group put on face masks.
Masks are highly recommended for all patrons over 12 while inside our foyers and theatres, except if eating or drinking. Masks are also recommended for younger children where appropriate.
Then you can head on in! Please have your tickets ready as you approach the theatre doors.
Once you’re inside, you and your group can visit our cafe for a drink and a snack.
When it’s time for your event to start, please have your tickets handy to minimise queuing at the theatre doors.
Seating for schools is by general admission, and each school will be asked to enter the theatre as a group.
Once you’re inside, take your seat and enjoy the show.
All our events are now operating at 100% capacity. Seating will not be explicitly socially distanced and you may be seated alongside other booking groups.
During the show, we highly recommend you and your group keep your masks on where possible, and ask you remain in your seats to help ensure a calm and safe experience for all.
During your visit, please remember these other important points.
Observe good hygiene practices: Groups should wash and sanitise hands regularly in the bathrooms or at sanitising stations located throughout the venue. Cough and sneeze into your elbow.
Practice social distancing where possible: Queue where indicated, don’t let your group congregate in the foyers, ensure group members stay in their designated seats when inside the theatre, and in all other instances ensure group members maintain a 1.5 metre distance if possible.
Use contactless payment where possible: Contactless payment is available at the Box Office and our café.
And finally, read about the additional steps we’ve taken to keep you safe.
We’ve implemented enhanced cleaning procedures at our venue, with all hard and high-touch surfaces cleaned regularly with hospital-grade disinfectant. All our front of house managers have completed training to become COVID-19 safety marshals.
Thank you for your support and cooperation. If you have any questions prior to your visit, please contact the Box Office - and on the day of your visit, our friendly staff will be there to guide you through.
We can’t wait to see you at the theatre!
Please note that as of 27 April 2022, you will not be required to present your vaccination status when entering our venue. QR code check-in is also no longer required.
