In 2023, one of Seymour Centre's most popular Arts Education partners, Treehouse Theatre, returns with their new show, Why Us?
Prepare to be moved as this powerful performance gives a platform to young refugees to share their stories. Why Us? is the real-life stories of teenage refugees who are learning to call Australia their new home.
This production delves into the devastating impact of war, tearing lives apart in a sudden burst of violence, leaving families displaced and searching for a place to call home. You have a new name now—refugee—and a new life to construct.
Through spoken word, lights, sound and movement, these young survivors share their stories. Why Us? invites you to embark on an emotional journey where you'll laugh, cry, and be inspired by resilience.
Witness the transformative power of theatre as Treehouse Theatre paints a vivid picture of the teenage refugee experience. This performance invites us all to reflect on our own lives and the broader world we inhabit.
