2022 was the year Morrison lost his job, Optus lost our data, the Queen lost her life, and Qantas lost our bags. And we all got soaked in the deluge of the five once-in-100-year floods since January.
Join us for a night of laughter and tears as we look back at the long, wet year that was 2022, featuring contributors to The Shot, Australia’s newest and sweariest publication.
Some of Australia’s most loved writers try and make sense of Australian life, politics and the really wet weather, and speculate on the future of our democracy, media and weather forecasting.
Hosted by Jo Dyer (Producer of The Wharf Revue and Director of Adelaide Writers’ Week 2019-2022), speakers include The Shot Editor David Milner and co-Founder of The Chaser Charles Firth, as well as Marque Lawyers’ Michael Bradley with his wrap on the Christian Porter legal sagas, and Frydenberg-slayer Monique Ryan MP, giving us the scoop from inside the Canberra Bubble.
The night concludes with the local launch of The Shot’s first book, The Shot Anthology. Copies will be available for sale on the night – or jump the queue and get your copy and one of the best seats in the house with your VIP ticket.
The Shot emerged during Australia’s lockdown as a voice of reason, despair, community, hope, better health, and swear words. Standing in opposition to a relentless propaganda campaign against public health waged by The Daily Telegraph and the rest of the Murdoch press, The Shot provided a counter-narrative for people who hadn’t yet lost the plot but feared they still might.
A night not to be missed.
