Crowning Percussion Australia’s week-long Boom! International Festival Of Percussion is the Closing Concert in Seymour Centre's Everest Theatre.
After six days of workshops, masterclasses, talks, and evening concerts, a who's who of percussive artists will make a joyful noise on their phantasmagorical array of gongs and cymbals, bells and bongos, timpani and taiko, marimbas and maracas.
If you have access needs, please call the Box Office on 02 9061 5344 to book tickets.
Anton Lock is a percussive powerhouse.
A drummer, taiko artist, programmer, composer, DJ, singer, and dancer, and a former member of Taikoz and Cirque Du Soleil, he has many years of performance experience on big stages around the world.
Currently residing in Colombia, Anton returns to Sydney to share his latest musical adventures exclusively for Boom!
Caribé are releasing their new album, Distant Waters, at this concert!
Seeing Caribé live is always a special experience incorporating chants, stories, and percussive elements deeply rooted in rumba and Afro-Cuban music styles.
8 October will be our first opportunity to share our new creation, Distant Waters, with you too!
Saxophonist Gai Bryant’s compositions craft traditional and classic Cuban song forms into contemporary original music that is unique and fresh.
The percussion and rhythm section of Steve Marin, Yordan Medina, Harry Birch, and Daniel Pliner set up a crackling, thunderous bed for Adrian Medina to dance to and the group to solo over.
The enthusiasm and raw spontaneity of Lee McIver, James Greening, Gai Bryant, and Julian Gough punching out melodies to move to and producing fiery solos is impossible to resist.
'Percussion group' does not adequately describe this unique collaboration between three of Australia’s best loved rhythmatists. Yes, percussion instruments are played, dextrously, innovatively, and with an astonishing degree of virtuosity, but what Circle Of Rhythm offer is beyond the boundaries of the standard percussion group.
Greg Sheehan, Benjamin Walsh, and Bobby Singh have, as individuals, changed the landscape of music in Australia. Circle Of Rhythm brings together their years of collaborative work and worlds of experience, creating a new force in rhythm to showcase to the world.
Their blend of soul, emotion feel, and technical mastery, coupled with their formidably in-depth knowledge of the rhythms of other cultures, give Circle Of Rhythm a point of difference to other percussion groups.
